ACT 2: Q&A
Q What is ACT 2: Visions and Dreams all about? A ACT 2: Visions and Dreams is an ambitious project that will help lead us to a new vision for the future of First Presbyterian Church. The name itself is a reference to Acts 2:17 – “And . . . your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young …shall see visions, and your old … shall dream dreams.” Q What do you mean by ambitious? A The goal is to interview as many as (but not limited to) 250-300 people throughout the congregation to discover what makes the ministry of First Presbyterian Church appealing and unique – what do our members appreciate most about our community of faith? Based upon those interviews, conducted by up to 100 other people, there will be a Congregational Convocation on October 6-7 for the purpose of crafting a new Vision and Mission Statement that will take us through the next five years – 2007 to 2012. This Convocation will be held at Calvary Church, 1051 Landis Valley Road, Lancaster. (This facility was chosen because it is accessible to people with special needs, it has functional space for both large and small group activities, and we will be making use of its excellent food service crew). Q Who is involved with ACT 2 ? A So far, church officers and staff (about 80 people), and a Core Team (another 10 people) have learned about the Session-approved project. The Core Team includes two facilitators from Lancaster’s Samaritan Counseling Center -- James W. Hanna, D. Min., Executive Director, and Linda Crockett, who directs the Center's Walking Together: Support for Survivors of Family Violence program. Jim and Linda advised our officers and continue to lend their expertise to ACT 2: Creating Visions, Embracing Community, Fulfilling Dreams.
