Year Theme
Cherry Street:

A Year With God
A Year With God

We are spending A Year With God in our sermons at Cherry Street. Of course God is always with us in life and worship, but this year we are particularly looking at the with-God life. A devotional guide by Richard Foster and Julia Roller will guide our study of the many faith practices that mature our life with God. Some up-coming topics:

  • Looking for God
  • Learning from Jesus
  • Simple Prayer
  • Asking God
  • Learning from Scripture
  • Discerning our Teachers
  • Confessing Our Sins
  • Everyday Worship
  • Serving God in Every Task
  • Praying for Others' Success
  • Hearing God

Heart Steeple
Discovering the
Heart of Christ

It was just a year ago that the officers of our church endorsed a new vision statement to guide our ministry from 2007-2012.  After listening to our membership through a process called appreciative inquiry, the vision says that it is our goal over the those five years to Discover the Heart of Christ in the Heart of the City.

During worship each week in Lent we will be exploring the first five words of our vision statement, "Discovering the Heart of Christ" Where shall we look to discover the heart of Christ? We are suggesting that the best place to look is the Beatitudes. In those first ten verses of Matthew 5, Jesus gives us a clear picture of the focus of his understanding of call; his agenda for ministry.
